About Bliss

The New Ulm WELLness Collective was started in 2016 by six wellness practitioners. One of our founding members was the late Bliss Kalk. In 2019, Bliss’ spirit could not be contained by her earthly body any longer, and she now lives on in the hearts of everyone who ever received one of her legendary hugs. The world is a better place for having her in it, and we now strive to ensure that the walls of The Well carry her healing, loving spirit in the work we do to bring health, happiness, and wholeness to everyone who graces our door with their presence.

A Life of Bliss

A Life of Bliss” is a children’s book written by Bliss’ friend and local writer Lori Mathiowetz. Inspired by our dear friend Bliss, it tells the story of a young girl looking for her special purpose in the world, only to find after her exciting adventure in the forest that it wasn’t outside herself to be strived for, but rather was inside herself all along. If you are a nerd, you can read the “adult version” of Lori’s academic explanation of the story, as told within the framework of Depth Psychology here: A Life of Bliss.

“A Life of Bliss” is available online at Amazon or at The Well. All proceeds go to support our scholarship fund: “Bliss Bucks”

Bliss Scholarship & “A Life of Bliss”

Bliss Bucks is our scholarship fund used to provide holistic care to those who need it most. If you, or someone you know could benefit from any of the services or classes at The Well, please nominate them below. Once received, someone from the well will reach out and coordinate care. There will be no obligation for payment, and all payment to the practitioner will come out of the scholarship fund (limits may apply due to funds available and care is dependent on the availability of practitioners).

Follow Your Bliss

The Follow Your Bliss Mural on our building is one of New Ulm’s first public art installations in downtown New Ulm. Painted in 2020 by artist Michael Cimino, the wall incorporates eastern healing designs, the lotus flower who’s beauty can grow in the darkest and muddiest of places, and Bliss’ favorite delicacy: morel mushrooms. We hope you will bring family and friends to take pictures (hashtag here) and enjoy the challenge of a treasure hunt to see who can find the most hidden mushrooms!
