Meet the Board of Directors

The Board of Directors for the New Ulm Wellness Collective meets once a month to discuss matters pertinent to the members of our organization. We plan fundraising events, discuss how to better collaborate with area community organizations, and brainstorm the wellness needs we can fill in our community. Annually, we review the nonprofit’s overall mission and strategy and nominate new members. If you, or your organization is interested in collaborating with us by serving on our Board of Directors, please reach out!

When I returned to New Ulm I was looking for holistic care to increase my wellbeing and reduce stress. I had difficulty finding practitioners in New Ulm that I could see without a doctor’s referral and I didn’t want to wait until I had a medical problem. I wanted to prevent that. The Well was born out of this need.
As a mental health professional I also sought to improve clients’ abilities to receive counseling. So much of my career has focused on those who need care the most also being the ones with the greatest difficulty accessing that care. The costs of health care are so high that many people can’t afford to use it. I joined The Well to bring affordable preventative and wellness services out of the clinical setting and into the community. First my role was helping to bring The Well to reality, then working as a practitioner, and after my life brought me in another direction- I’m proud to serve on the Board of Directors.

The Wellness Collective practitioners provide alternative holistic care for the mind, body and spirit. I am humbled by the kindness and dedication of the practitioners. I want to serve on the Board because I want to support them and this collective in some small way. I want to ensure that this community has every opportunity to be healthy, happy, strong, and successful.

I choose to serve on the board of The New Ulm Wellness Collective because I believe in their mission: ‘Self-care is fundamental to human happiness.’ I appreciate that The Wellness Collective looks at the whole person and offers a variety of services to meet the needs of our mind, body, and spirit; improving our overall health, energy, and outlook. As a nurse I think this quote by Herophilus says it all, “When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot manifest, strength cannot fight, wealth becomes useless, and intelligence cannot be applied.” I am grateful our community has access to the holistic services The Wellness Collective has to offer and I am honored to be a small part of The Wellness Collective journey.

As a person who hopes to continue to age gracefully, I have tried many of the opportunities that The Well has to offer. This has allowed me to meet my own personal goals of a healthy body, clear mind, and peaceful spirit.  Now as I serve as a member of the Board of Directors for The Well, I will work toward makings those same ends available to the greater community. By ensuring that the members of The Collective thrive, the Community is served, as well.
